Year after year you promise yourself that you will lose those last 20 pounds after the holidays. Then Year after Year after about 2
weeks of working out, you just stop. Why is this? Well I think a lot of it has to do with a mindset. Most of us go in thinking that we don’t want to suffer too much, don’t want to be too inconvenienced, and if we don’t see results right away, we’re out the door! It’s a bit of that all of nothing mentality that tends to be so common in the American cultutre.
Now think for a minute how different things would be if you went in to your goal without a deadline, and realizing that you will have to give up some of your favorite habits to get where you want to be. Then have the attitude that even if you don’t lose weight right away, at least you are getting healthier every day. This will make a world of difference in your mindset and your goal. People that go in with a mindset of longterm health as opposed to short term weight loss tend to be much more succesful in losing weight and keeping it off.
So take a deep breath, calm down, and if you haven’t lost 20lbs in two weeks, its okay! You’re still better off than when you started. Change your mindset and reach your goals.
